Before you conduct your audit, consider the project boundaries for data collection bearing in mind the following:
- Will the audit consider all the activities and operations that are a consequence of the organsation's existence and role?
- Will the audit be limited to emissions due to the business activities and operation of the company?
- Will the audit be limited to emissions due to activities that can be practically controlled by the company?
- Will the audit be limited to emissions due to activities with significant impacts (and also quantifiable data), and ignore the less significant sources of emissions?
Once boundaries are identified, be clear about them in any documentation about your processes.
